 You would think with the ratio of men v.s. ladies on FLN that the male members would be in heaven. At times I publish on FE that we need more male members to join FLN, but rarely does it move the FE male members to join. Again, not sure why. I actively market all my sites (paid advertising) but there are other factors outside the control of the webmaster that may come into play. Most of those factors relate to search engines. For example, if a lady in the Philippines uses google to search for a dating site to join, maybe more search terms are being used in the Philippines related to FLN while men in the states and Europe may be using search terms that relate more to FE. I’m not sure how many readers know this, but google search engine is country based. In other words, the U.S google search engine may be different than the Philippine google search engine. Obviously I can’t control the terms someone may use to find dating sites or what search engine they may use. I try my best to keep up with as many stats as I can, but when you are working a 8 to 10 hour day, it leaves very little time to do all things related to a dating site: answering emails, updates, marketing, fixing bugs, research, etc. There just isn’t enough time in the day and the site does not make enough money for me to hire qualified help. We are pretty much a family run site. The other possible factor is the economy. Lets face it, everyone around the globe is going through some rough times. The job market in the U.S. is not so hot. I'm not going to elaborate on economic factors since so much of it is in the news, but I will say ladies if you meet a man who has a good job and is willing to handle the cost involved with the visa process, don't let him go. My only point about mentioning the economy is men may be shying away from an Asian dating site, if they feel at this time they can not afford to be involved in a long distance relationship economically. It can be a factor. I do have a few trusted members who help, but it requires real diligence to stay with it (kind of like finding love). I must admit, I’m a control freak when it comes to the sites. It is hard to turn over duties related to the site not knowing if they may accidently mess things up or not. After hundreds of hours and dollars, it is hard to just let anyone take control. Hence, there is still a lot of things that only I do. I get very few Filipina male members joining any of my sites. Most men are from the U.S. or Europe but I do get male members from around the globe. By far, most of the lady members are from the Philippines. I know time can be a factor. The longer a site is on the net, the better the chance it being found by a variety of people. It is always appreciated if members spread the word about the sites. It could be they have a facebook or myspace account and put our URL (see below) in their profile, they may spread the word with digg (http://digg.com/), or if they frequently visit another forum, they can mention our sites. If every member did that, I may never have to spend a dime on advertising :). Well FLN guys, you should be happy and better take advantage of this ratio while it lasts. I can guarantee you that over time things change and maybe a day will come where there will be more men than woman and than the competition will be much more keen. One thing I do know for sure – there will always be a new set of problems no matter what I do and it is hard to satisfy everyone 100% of time, but I do my best with the time and resources I have at my disposal.
